Cow Bay Contracting is one of the most trusted and experienced ADA Assessment and Compliance Construction Companies in the USA. Licensed in 14 states.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush. The ADA is one of America's most comprehensive pieces of civil rights legislation that prohibits discrimination and guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to participate in the mainstream of American life -- to enjoy employment opportunities, to purchase goods and services, and to participate in State and local government programs and services. Modeled after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin – and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 -- the ADA is an "equal opportunity" law for people with disabilities. A significant piece of this legislation involves building and accessibility guidelines, and these guidelines are continually being updated.
ADA Compliance Expertise at Cow Bay Contracting
Cow Bay has been doing ADA construction for more than 20 years, and we have completed more than 1,500 ADA projects and renovations from West Virginia to Maine during that time. Some of our clients include: McDonald's, Exxon-Mobil, 7-Eleven Stores, Metropolitan Children School, and currently the United States Postal Service. We have a staff of 15 professionals and 2 lawyers that are hands on for each project.
Our expertise also extends to corporate budget concerns. We will create a plan that maximizes the federal tax benefits available for you. We phase in a customized solution for each site. Cow Bay's experience also means knowing the least expensive solution, less time on the job, and lower costs. We get the job right, the first time.
Common ADA Construction Mistakes
Unfortunately, a large number of ADA access projects have to be redone. Many code inspectors are not fully up-to-date in ADA specifics. Franchise and business owners are too busy to know the volumes or regulations. Less experienced contractors are not aware of the tight construction tolerances and special techniques required.
Some common ADA construction errors noted by the government inspectors include: handicap parking locations, improper access routes, surface slopes greater than two degrees. Landing areas, doors, door thresholds and entrances not meeting tolerances or specifications. Curb cuts, edge protection, flare, and transition areas improperly constructed.
Cow Bay ADA Access Plans Are Certified Compliant.
Some businesses have developed their own ADA access guidebooks requiring significant investments of time and money. Cow Bay Contracting has an experienced staff including architects, engineers, attorneys and trained professional ADA Compliance Staff. We can provide you with a complete guidebook as well as an architect/engineer of compliance to oversee your retro-fit or new construction.
Don't Wait Until a Complaint Has Been Filed Against You
Waiting until a complaint has been filed is risky business, and can result in 4-5 times higher costs. Cow Bay Contracting will draft a plan that maximizes your tax credits and deductions. And our experienced staff can even help you with the paperwork.
Being ADA compliant is good business. 20% of Americans are disabled, and the number is growing as we live longer. The ADA market has more discretionary income than the 16-21 year market.
Let Cow Bay evaluate your current facilities and design a cost-effective, customized plan to help protect you. Additionally, we can provide consultation regarding future projects and advise you of litigation trends.
